Description

Wild Oaks is a house dating from the mid-16th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a half-hipped pantile roof. Originally a small open hall house, it has a 17th-century inserted floor and a parlour or solar at the north end. The building is one storey with attics and is positioned at right angles to the street. The north end features a jettied design, with exposed framing and two original jetty brackets. Part of the west elevation also displays exposed framing. There is an off-centre ridge line stack with diagonal shafts above an inglenook fireplace. A large gabled dormer is present in the east roof slope, and the windows are 20th-century diamond leaded light casements. The internal wall braces are relatively straight.
