Description
The ice house at Manuden House dates from the early to mid 19th century. It features red brick walls constructed in both Flemish and English bond, topped with plain clay tiles. This unusual structure has a circular chamber both above and below ground, with a conical roof and an entrance porch. The walls of the chamber are plain and unfenestrated, and it has a timber frame roof with a timber finial. The pitched and gabled entrance porch includes a flat gauged brick arch and an entrance door with a half round relieving arch above it. The interior of the chamber has not been inspected.
