Description

The ice house, likely built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, features a domed chamber constructed from a mix of black and red header bond brickwork. Inside, there is a central cast iron hook, which was probably used for hanging venison. Access to the chamber was through a brick-lined tunnel, although this has mostly been demolished. The entire structure is covered by an earth mound, which is supported on the north side, where the entrance is located, by a ragstone wall that was originally topped with saddleback bricks.
