Description
The building is a byre and stable block located approximately 60 metres southeast of Aythorpe Hall, dating from the 17th century. It was originally a timber-framed structure with weatherboarding and a tiled roof, consisting of five bays and two storeys, oriented north-south. An additional bay was added to the north in the 18th century, oriented east-west, along with a brick extension to the west, likely for stables. This configuration is recorded on an estate map from 1766 by I. Mackown. A single-storey farm office was added to the south in the 20th century. The east wall features a window with diamond mullions on the ground floor, and the cambered tiebeams have been altered to an interrupted tiebeam construction.
