Description
Berden Priory is a late 16th-century timber-framed and plastered building designed in an L-shaped plan. It stands two storeys high, with the upper storey jettied, featuring a moulded bressumer and exposed timber-framing across the entire south front. The first storey has a five-window range of casements from the 20th century, while the ground storey mainly features double-hung sashes with glazing bars. Some original high-level mullioned window openings have been restored on the first storey. The entrance includes an 8-panel door topped with a flat hood supported by brackets. There is a 17th-century kitchen addition to the building. The roof is tiled and hipped on both the east and west sides, and it has two chimney stacks that have been rebuilt. The interior retains original features.
