Description
This pavilion, located 10 meters north-west of the gates approaching from Bridge Street in Saffron Walden, was built around 1854. It features a square plan constructed of red brick, with plain clasping corner pilasters and a lead dome topped by a central glazed cupola. The northeast side has a wooden doorway designed in an 18th-century style, which includes recessed pilasters and console brackets that support a broken cornice. The doorway is adorned with a scroll-shaped head decorated with leaf motifs. Above the doorway, there is a frieze featuring egg-and-dart moulding and a central foliage knot design. The entrance gate is made of cast iron and is embellished with three main bands of leaf scrolls, along with smaller similar borders at the top and bottom.
