Description
Blakes is a house dating from around 1640. It has a timber frame and is plastered, topped with a half hipped peg tile roof. The building is two storeys high and features a catslide rear lean-to, a hipped porch, and a two-storey extension at right angles, which has painted weatherboarding and a hipped roof at the end. The layout follows a typical lobby entry plan, but it includes two posts on the front wall for the stack bay and only one in the rear wall. There is a central rectangular ridge line stack and a small stack that rises through the rear roof.
The front of the house has a central peg tile gabled porch supported by oak posts and filled with glazing. The windows include 20th-century metal leaded light casements and painted timber casements. Inside, there is a central inglenook and three original moulded plank doors.
