Description

Markhams Cottage is a late 17th-century timber-framed cottage. It has black weatherboarding and a half-hipped peg tile roof. The cottage is of two storeys, featuring a large central rectangular ridgeline stack. A 20th-century extension, also with peg tile roofs and black weatherboarding, adjoins the southwest end. The front elevation incorporates a mix of 19th-century casement windows, some with small panes and single horizontal glazing bars, alongside a front door window with small panes and a simple pentice hood. A double inglenook stack includes two dated and initialled 18th-century bricks within the rebuilt upper part.
