Description

Tanners is a house that dates from the mid-16th century or earlier, with later alterations and extensions from the late 16th century and the 20th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a red plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and is designed in an H plan, featuring jettied and gabled crosswings at both the east and west ends. The front has a range of three 20th-century casement windows and a 20th-century lean-to porch, also with a red plain tile roof. There is a lean-to extension on the east side and a 16th-century red brick chimney stack. Some of the timber framing is exposed on the interior. The house is situated on a moated site.
