Description

The Elephant is a late 18th century or early 19th century brick house located on Newport High Street. The building has been altered in the 20th century and features painted brickwork. It stands two storeys high and has a two-window range with 20th-century casements that include glazing bars and louvred shutters. A central six-panel double door, flanked by pilasters and topped with a cornice hood, is accessed by stone steps that have iron railings and a swept handrail. The roof is covered with slate.
