Description
The Lodge is the remaining lodge of a pair that once marked the entrance to Mistley Hall, built around 1781. It is believed to have been part of Robert Adam's design for the Hall and Park for Richard Rigby. The building is constructed of white brick with stone dressings and features a hipped grey slate roof topped by a brick chimney stack. It has a square plan and is a single storey high. The Lodge is adorned with a moulded and dentilled parapet cornice, and each face of the building displays a panel of swags and modillions below the cornice. The main entrance, facing Green Lane, has a six-panelled door with a moulded surround, a frieze, and moulded brackets supporting a moulded flat canopy. The side windows have similar surrounds, but lack the canopy brackets.
