Description
The Old Maltings, located to the west of Maltings Farmhouse, is an early 19th-century maltings building constructed of red brick with a red pantiled roof. It features an unusual design where the roof extends out to the west, creating an internal single-storey rear corridor that connects to the two-storey front, which faces east. The east face includes three red brick buttresses and two concreted buttresses, along with a dentilled eaves cornice. The building has five bays, each with ground and first-floor louvres, and similar louvres are present on the rear. The south gable, which faces the road, has doors to the right and windows to the left on both floors, while the north gable is now open. Inside, there is a freestanding timber frame with hanging knees that support the tie beams of the malting floor, and the first floor has boarded walls. The roof structure consists of a side purlin ridgeboard.
