Description

This is a group of three tombstones located approximately 30 metres northeast of the northeast corner of the chancel. The tombstones commemorate William Walford, who died in 1832, Mary Ellis Walford, also from 1832, and Elizabeth Walford, who died in 1818. Each headstone features carved heads with lugged ends and sunk ovals, adorned with fine cast iron heads and wings of two cherubs. The central body tomb has moulded edges and a ribbed top, along with a footstone. This group is notable for its unusual design and represents an early example of cast iron work on memorials in Essex.
