Description
Tendring Hall is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is timber framed and faced with gault brick, topped with red plain tiled roofs. The building has two storeys, attics, and cellars, featuring gabled crosswings, a two-storey range on the left, and a one-storey and attic range on the right. There are red brick chimney stacks located to the left of the left gable, at the rear of the main range, and in front of the right range. The main range has a gabled dormer, and the crosswings have attic windows. The windows are arranged in a 1:3:1 pattern and consist of vari-light casements with mullions, some of which have transoms and labels. A 20th-century door with top and side lights is positioned to the left of the central range. Inside, notable features include a restored inglenook fireplace, a bedroom fireplace with a semi-circular back, 18th-century panelling in one room, a cast iron firesurround, and a pegged side purlin roof. The kitchen range on the right retains its original mantel beam and has chamfered bridging joists with run-out stops.
