Description

The Old Bakery is a house, originally a pair of cottages, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with alterations and additions made in the 18th century and later. The building is timber framed and has a brick facade on the left side, weatherboarding on the right side and return, and a rear lean-to extension. It features red brick chimney stacks at each end and in the centre. The two storeys contain a four-window front with small, vertically sliding sash windows. The left-hand range appears to contain a 16th-century interior with a 17th-century back-to-back inglenook fireplace. A short halved and bridled scarf is visible on the top plate. The left range has numbered and pegged collars, and a stop-chamfered storey post. A cellar on the right-hand range is mainly stone and likely originates from the 16th century.
