Description
Nos. 45, 47, and 49 Mill Street are cottages with origins dating back to the 15th or 16th century, featuring later alterations and additions. The buildings are timber framed and partially weatherboarded. The left range has a red pantile roof, while the central gabled and jettied crosswing has a grey slate roof, and there is an outshot to the right. The left range includes a large red brick chimney stack, and there is an external stack to the right. The cottages are one storey and attic in height on the left range, with a gabled dormer, while the central and right ranges are two storeys tall, each featuring a small paned casement window from the 20th century on the first floor. The facade has a 1:2:1 arrangement of various small paned ground floor windows, including an angled oriel window beneath the jetty, which is supported by brackets. The left side has a boarded door with a pentice board above, and there are additional doors on the right return. No. 49 still retains two arched doorways, although they have been cut through, likely leading to a former left screens passage that has since been demolished. Heavy timber framing is partly visible.
