Description
Cockett Wick Farmhouse is a cottage dating from the 15th or 16th century or possibly earlier. It is constructed with a timber frame, partially plastered, and features some brick and weatherboard facing. The roof is covered with red plain tiles. The building has an L-plan layout and is one storey high with attics. It has a range of four windows with various casements. There is an off-centre right gabled porch that includes a six-panelled door with a moulded surround. Although visibility was restricted during the re-survey, the front range appears to consist of seven bays. The roof is made of heavy timbers with solid arched braces supporting the collars, and there is a visible collar with a shallow chamfered arch between the braces. The top plate has a halved and bridled scarf joint. The rear left wing features a gabled dormer and has two windows on the ground floor along with a central boarded door.
