Description
19 and 20 King's Head Street are two houses dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are timber-framed, with the upper two storeys covered in painted shiplap boarding, while the ground floor is pebbledashed. The houses have gabled roofs made of clay plain tiles and feature gable end stacks. They rise to three storeys and were originally designed as a symmetrical pair with central access for pedestrians. Each house originally had a vertical band of double-hung sash windows with small panes, although the second floor window of No. 20 has been replaced with a wider two-light casement. There are two 20th-century hardwood doors with moulded surrounds that resemble the entrance to the central passage, which is flanked by large painted boards. Each unit includes a narrow winder stair.
