Description

Hill Place is a house, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. The original range to the left displays an exposed timber frame, characterised by halved bracing. A plastered gable range is situated to the right. Various plastered rear ranges exist, all topped by red plain tiled roofs. A rear chimney stack is built of red brick. The house is two storeys high, with a 1:2 window arrangement on the first floor. The ground floor features 1:2 tripartite vertically sliding sash windows, with a red tiled bay on the right. A 19th-century gabled porch encloses the right side of the original range, sheltering a 19th or 20th-century plank and muntin door. The house is reportedly home to two original fireplaces, a carved bressumer beam in the hall (formerly the south side of the original building), and a 17th-century staircase with turned balusters.
