Description
Great Whitmans Farmhouse is a late 18th-century house that has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber framed and plastered, with a facade of painted brick laid in Flemish bond, and has a roof covered with red clay tiles. The building faces southwest and features two end wall stacks. There are 20th-century extensions at the rear, including both two-storey and single-storey flat-roofed sections. The farmhouse has two storeys, cellars, and attics, with a three-window range of 19th-century sash windows and a catslide dormer. The entrance includes a 20th-century door that retains its original moulded architrave and fanlight, along with a 20th-century lean-to porch supported by brackets. The front of the house is enhanced by four rendered brick buttresses topped with tiled cappings.
