Description

Thatched Cottage is a former parish school, now a house, built in 1842. It features painted brick in Flemish bond and a thatched roof. The building has a rectangular plan facing northwest, with a rear stack and a 20th-century flat-roofed single-storey extension at the back. It is a single storey and has three original sash windows, each with 16 lights. There is a 20th-century door at the front of the original gabled porch. Above the door, there is a stone tablet inscribed with 'Cold Norton' (some words erased) and the date 1842. The cottage has a hipped roof and one similar sash window on the left side. When it served as a school, the brickwork was not painted.
