Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber framed, weatherboarded, and plastered, topped with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The cottage has three bays facing southeast and features a central stack. It is one storey high with attics and includes two 20th-century casement windows, along with two additional casements in lean-to dormers. The entrance has a plain boarded door. The cottage was described as 'newly erected' in 1797 in the will of John Burchell, which is held at the Essex Record Office. There is also a 20th-century extension at the rear.
