GV II

House. c1840. Timber-framed and rendered with white weatherboarded south-west flank and rear. Slate hipped roofs with red ridge/hip tiles. L-plan enclosing yard on north-east side. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 4-window range. 1st floor of front elevation has sash windows with moulded surrounds and margin glazing bars. Ground floor has doorcase with Doric pilasters, flat cornice/hood and margin-glazed rectangular fanlight. Door has 2 long vertical moulded panels. One sash as others and French windows with side lights and 4 panes of glass over transom. Door to yard passage. Weatherboarded south-west elevation has two 16-pane sash windows on 1st floor. Ground floor has door, one 16-pane sash and one margin-glazed sash window. Rear elevation has 2 margin-glazed sash windows over central French windows as front elevation. Yard elevation has 2 margin-glazed sash windows over an extremely large square sash with small Gothick arched panes. INTERIOR: many contemporary doors and fittings and central hall with stick-baluster staircase with shaped tread ends and hardwood handrails from bulbous early Victorian-looking newel.
