Description
The stables, located approximately 10 meters north-west of The Old Rectory, were built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of red Flemish-bond brick and feature a gabled slate roof. The building is a tall single storey with an outshut under a catslide roof to the east, creating an L-plan shape. The front has a roof that is concealed behind a semicircular-profile parapet, which includes a curved stepped parapet in front of the outshut.
The main entrance is a semicircular-headed door that has a keystone and impost blocks, with a tooled center and plain margins. In the center of the elevation, there is a circular window with iron compass-point glazing bars. The coachman's room has a segmental-headed door opening and a 2-light, 6-paned segmental-headed window in the lean-to. The west elevation features three circular windows; one has iron radiating-pattern glazing bars, while the others have timber infill that reduces to a small circular central opening. Inside, the stables retain contemporary stalls and floor paviours.
