Description
This listing describes a cottage, barn, and outbuildings located approximately 25 meters west of Beeleigh Abbey. The structures date from the 16th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The basic structure of the buildings is made of red English-bond brick, with some alterations in early 19th century English-bond brick featuring blue and grey headers. The first floor of the cottage has early 20th century pargeted render, while the barn includes part timber framing made from reused timber, covered in black weatherboarding. The roofs are made of pantiles, with plain tiles on the barn, a hipped roof over the cottage, and a steeper pitched gable over the barn. There are three stacks, one of which is rendered.
The cottage is two storeys high, featuring a mix of 2-light and 3-light 20th century casement windows with leaded panes. There are remains of a Tudor brick structure, including a buttress on the north-west elevation and traces of a similar buttress on the south-west corner. The brickwork is full height, forming a partition between the cottage and barn, with short return walls at each end. One of these walls encloses fragments of reused masonry, including stone with mouldings. To the north-east, there is a single-storey, black weatherboarded timber-framed range with a plain tile roof. The interior has not been inspected.
