Description
The Red Lion Public House is a late 19th-century re-fronting of a timber-framed building, with some original structure visible at the rear. It features red brick in Flemish bond and is two storeys high, arranged in an L-plan. The roof is parapetted and includes five sunken panels with cusped corners. On the first storey, there are three hornless sash windows set beneath segmental arches. The central door is framed in a wide case with a rectangular light above, flanked by semi-hexagonal bay windows that have slated hip-roofs. At the rear, there is a large timber building clad in black weatherboards, which has ridged, gabled, and peg-tiled roofs. This rear structure is laid out in a cross-plan and includes a red brick chimney stack with two diagonally set shafts, dating from the late 16th century, and has no fenestration.
