Description
This is an early 19th century gate lodge, originally part of the estate of Marks Hall. The building is a single storey and of square plan, constructed of stock brick in a Flemish bond pattern. It has a ridged, gabled slate roof with dentil detailing to the verges and a transom soffit. The south front gable is supported by four round, slender Doric columns, creating a walkway over a stone-paved area. A central door with six fielded panels is flanked by a pair of hornless, small-paned sash windows, all set beneath straight, gauged arches. Matching sash windows are also found in the side walls. A modern extension has been added at the rear to the west. A matching set of columns and a pediment are present on the north-facing elevation.
