Description
The Old House, dating from circa 1600, is an original range with two later rear ranges forming a U-shaped plan. The front range is a two-storey timber-framed building with an oak frame, and a ridged, gabled roof covered in peg tiles. A central chimney rises from the roof, constructed of red brick with one diagonal and one octagonal shaft. The front of the building is jettied, with an ogee-moulded bressummer supported by five knees. The oak front frame is exposed, featuring ogee wind-bracing on both storeys. The first floor has three casement windows with leaded glass, while the ground floor has three casements. The casement on the right-hand side is set within a pointed oak arch with sunken spandrels. A pointed arched doorway is located in the second place from the left. Inside, a contemporary bolection moulded fire surround is present.
