Description
Moreton Massey is a public house, formerly known as The Nags Head, which dates from the late 16th century and late 17th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile roof. It stands two storeys tall and features a two-window range with 19th-century vertical sliding sashes that include glazing bars, along with 20th-century louvred shutters on the first floor. A 20th-century gabled porch, supported by wooden columns and adorned with decorative bargeboards, is present, as well as a canted bay at the west end. The west range contains a late 16th-century red brick central chimney stack. An iron pump is mounted on the east end wall. Inside, the timber frame is exposed, showcasing late 16th-century chamfered bridging joists and original fireplaces.
