Description
The Talbot is a house that was originally a public house and may have had industrial use before that. It has a core dating from the 16th or 17th century at the rear, with a front range from the 18th or 19th century and a gabled wing to the left from the 19th century. The main front range is clad in gault brick and features a grey slate roof, while the rear is timber framed and weatherboarded with red plain tiles. There are two gault brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range of six-paned sliding sashes with segmental heads. The central entrance is a boarded door with four lights above it, and there is a grey slate gabled porch with trellis work.
The left wing, which is weatherboarded, has a band at the eaves, a three-light window with a segmental head, a small-paned sliding sash window, and a grill for the basement. There is also a cast iron louvre at the rear. An external red brick chimney stack is present. Inside, there are exposed timber beams and two mullion windows, along with 17th-century iron windows at the rear. At the back of the property, there is a bricked leat with a sluice gate, and a stream still runs through, suggesting that water-driven machinery may have been used here at one time.
