Description
Forge House is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century or earlier, featuring 17th century and later additions and alterations. It incorporates a single-storey 17th century building to the right. The structure is timber framed and plastered, with 20th century pargetting, and has a red plain tiled roof. The front has a three-window range of leaded casements. There is an eight-panelled door with a fluted surround, frieze, and a moulded flat canopy. The single-storey section to the right is faced with red brick and has two matching windows and a boarded door, with halved bracing visible on the internal walls. The house features off-centre attached diagonal red brick chimney shafts, which have been rebuilt, and includes a fine original moulded red brick fireplace with a pointed arch in a flat head surround in one room, as well as a plain fireplace at the rear with a timber beam above. Halved bracing is also present in the room to the right of the door, with through bracing seen elsewhere. The floors are made of red brick.
