Description

Cutlers Forge is a 17th-century forge, later converted into a cottage, located off London Road in Stapleford Tawney, near Passingford Bridge. The building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring panel pargetting. It has a hipped red tile roof with gable dormers to the left and rear, and a gabled wing to the rear with a 20th-century board door and window. The forge is one storey high with attics. The front features two double-boarded doors and a five-light window. Windows have diamond-leaded glass. It is believed to have belonged to the Cutlers Company of London in the 17th century and by 1649 was owned by Thomas Luther, Lord of Suttons Manor.
