Description

Suttons Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with a rear wing originating from around 1250 to 1330, which was re-roofed in the 16th or 17th century. It has undergone 19th and 20th-century restorations. The house is timber framed and plastered, featuring a crosswing to the right. It has a red plain tiled roof, with 19th-century decorative pierced bargeboards to the gable and batten decoration to the first floor above a jetty supported by brackets and pendants. The house is two storeys high, with a 2:1 window range of 3-light leaded casements. A gabled porch with bargeboards and side windows is open to one side. Inside, there are chamfered bridging and ceiling joists, and jowled storey posts. The top plate has a plain scarf with undersquinted abutment. A documented date of 1613 is present. The site may have originally been moated.
