Description
The property, known as "Suttons," is a house, largely dating to the early 19th century, though it incorporates elements of an earlier structure. It is currently undergoing restoration following a recent fire that destroyed much of the original core. The main section is a double-range building encased in brickwork, constructed around 1815 and now plastered, with ashlar detailing. It has a grey slate roof with projecting eaves and decorative eaves brackets, and parapeted gables. The house has two storeys and a five-window front, featuring small-paned vertical sliding sash windows in plain surrounds with dentilled reveals. A central entrance features a six-panel door surmounted by a fanlight with round and triangular sections, and is sheltered by a porch with fluted columns, bases, and capitals. Symmetrically placed plastered chimney stacks are positioned on the roof. To the right of the main building is a two-storey range with a grey slate roof and a hipped grey slate bay window on the ground floor. This section has a three-window front with small-paned vertical sliding sash windows. Two six-panel doors, each with plain surrounds and a frieze and canopy above, provide access. A central plastered chimney stack is present on this range.
