Description
New Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier. It has a half 'H' plan and has undergone alterations and additions in the 20th century. The building is timber framed and rough rendered, topped with a red plain tiled roof and gables on the crosswings. Between the crosswings, there is a 20th-century extension featuring a central gabled dormer and an open tiled porch. The house is two storeys high, with three windows on the ground floor and a one-to-one window arrangement on the first floor, which consists of 20th-century leaded casements. The entrance includes a 20th-century plank and muntin door. There is a 20th-century external red brick chimney on the left crosswing and an off-centre rebuilt 20th-century attached diagonal shaft red brick chimney. Inside, the bridging joists are stop-chamfered, and in one room, all the floor joists are also stop-chamfered. There are remnants of 17th and 18th-century panelling and one panelled door. The top plates feature a halved and bridled scarf joint.
