Description

Gainsthorpe House is a house and crosswing dating from the 16th century or earlier. It is timber-framed and plastered, with a crosswing to the left. The roof is tiled in red, with a hipped section over the crosswing. There are two gabled dormers, each containing a 19th-century casement window. The house is one storey in height with attics. It has a three-window front, featuring 19th-century casement and vertical sliding sash windows. A central boarded door leads into the house, and a central chimney stack is constructed of diagonal shaft red brick. Remains of a moat are present.
