Description
The Rectory is a house mainly from the early 19th century, with late 18th century painted brick cladding and a grey slate roof, likely featuring an early timber-framed core. It has a complex plan, possibly originally designed in a half H-plan. The building stands two storeys high, with a hip roof on the left range and an open pediment on the right, showcasing ornate projecting eaves. The façade features a 1:2:1 arrangement of small paned vertical sliding sash windows. There is a recessed 20th-century glazed door with a plain surround, a frieze, and a moulded flat canopy above it. The right return has an open pediment to the left with a two-window range, where the ground floor has three lights with moulded canopies and brackets, along with a ground cill. A central band runs across the building, and there are two painted brick chimney stacks topped with cream-colored rectangular, fluted pots. Inside, there is a notable 18th or 19th-century fireplace and a carved wooden chimney piece dated 1636.
