Description

The Old Rectory and Glebe House is a house dating from around 1800, likely designed by John Johnson (1732-1814). The building features gault brick on the north, south, and west faces, while the east elevation is made of red brick. It has a pyramid shape with a low-pitched slate roof and stands three storeys tall, with a plain stone band at the first-floor height.

The entrance is located on the north front, which has three square double-hung sash windows with two vertical glazing bars and segmental heads, although one window is now blocked. The first floor also has three windows, with the west opening similarly blocked. The ground floor includes a projecting flat-roofed porch supported by fluted Doric half and three-quarter columns at the corners, along with a wide eaves and cornice overhang. Each side of the porch features a tripartite double-hung sash window with a segmental head. The main block is surrounded by brick dentilled cases.

To the east, there is a two-storey service wing constructed of red brick with an irregular pattern of blue headers and a gabled peg tile roof. This wing connects to a lean-to against the east wall of the main block. The service block has three flat-topped dormers on the north side and three gabled dormers on the south side. The property is situated on a former moated site.
