Description
The Rectory is a house with origins in the 17th century, particularly in the northern wing, while the main block was added in the early 18th century. It was purchased for use as a rectory in 1723. The building is timber framed and rough rendered, topped with a red plain tile roof that has two hipped dormers from the 18th century. The eaves feature a dentilled and moulded cornice. The house is two storeys high with attics and has a five-window range of 18th-century sliding sash windows that include thick glazing bars and internal shutters. There is also a range of 18th-century horizontal sliding sash windows on the left side. The central entrance has a four-panelled door with a light above, flanked by pilasters with moulded bases and capitals, and features a dentilled frieze and soffit under the pediment, accessed by four steps. To the left, there is a large square red brick chimney stack with a moulded base, and an external red brick chimney stack on the right. The north wing is said to contain original 17th-century panelling.
