Description
The barn located to the south-west of Little Tey House is a 16th-century structure. It features a timber frame with black weatherboards and has one aisle and one midstrey. The roof is ridged and gabled, covered with corrugated iron. Inside, the barn consists of six bays with an aisle along the south side. The assembly in the aisle includes shores that tenon into the aisle tiebeams. There are double arch-braces on the east and west sides of the threshing-bay, and queen-post couples are present at all bays, with in-pitch bracing to the side-purlins. The walls are side-girt and feature curved wind-braces above the girts and on the internal faces. The scarfs are bladed and located on or near the main posts. Each bay contains eight studs and eight rafter couples. Some 19th-century dates can be found on the midstrey posts.
