Description

Priory House is an 18th-century house, with earlier elements, situated on an L-shaped plan encompassing its west and south elevations. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond, with peg-tiled roofs featuring eaves and troughing, and a ridged, hipped profile. Three brick chimneys are present, two on the rear slope and one on a projecting wing. The south elevation has three double-hung sash windows with small panes on the first storey, finished with stucco and a dentilled brick eaves cornice. A central ground-floor entrance is framed by an elaborate Victorian door surround, featuring a wide wooden case with reeding and an open pediment supported by consoles. Matching sash windows flank the entrance on the first storey, all contained within concealed boxes. The east wall of the north wing contains a pair of sliding sash windows. Decorative cast iron oval wall anchors are visible on this wall, likely dating from the early 19th century.
