Description

Thrift Cottages, dating to around 1600, are a pair of cottages located north of the road, in Boxted. They form a long range aligned north to south, incorporating a modern addition along the rear wall. The cottages are timber-framed and plastered, with a thatched ridge and gable roof, featuring a single eyebrow dormer centrally. A red brick chimney is situated near the centre of the roof. The first floor displays chamfered bridging joists and soffit-tenoned common joists. Windows include three-paned sliding sashes and some modern casements. The front has two plain 19th-century doors.
