Description

The Old Vicarage is an early 19th-century Regency house located on Great Tey Chapel Road. It has a three-bay, two-storey façade facing east, constructed from gault brick in a Flemish bond pattern. The ground floor features a central front door that is sheltered by an Ionic portico with an entablature, supported by two columns and two pilasters, and has panelled reveals. On either side of the door are pairs of eight-pane sash windows with stone sills and straight gauged heads. The first storey has three matching windows. The roof is hipped and slated, with eaves and two gault chimney stacks on the rear slope, and the building has a rectangular plan. Inside, there are well-preserved original stairs, fire surrounds, reveal shutters, and plaster ceilings. Additionally, there is a crinkle-crankle wall in the garden.
