Description

Brannam Court is a 17th-century oak-framed and plastered building, refronted in brick during the 18th century. It is situated on the north side of the High Street in Dedham. The front elevation is finished with a stone coping and features a bow window from the 18th century. The building has two storeys and a five-window range. A Victorian shop front is present on the right side of the front door, which has a dentilled wooden cornice and a rectangular fanlight above. The door is surrounded by panelled reveals. The roofs are covered with peg tiles.

Inside, a panelled room on the first floor includes inset cupboards dating to around 1600, as well as a fireplace with a moulded plaster arch, jambs, and embossed leaf scroll ornamentation.

Outbuildings in the rear yard consist of two bays and two storeys with a ridged and gabled roof covered with peg tiles. The outbuildings contain floor joists with diminished haunches and may have originally been built as a candle factory.
