Description
Crofter's and Evans and Sons is a 16th-century building located on the north side of Dedham High Street. It stands two storeys high with attics, framed in timber and plastered, and features a peg-tiled roof. The front of the building was remodeled and plastered in the 18th century. It has a four-window range of small-paned sashes in exposed boxes. The ground storey includes two barred windows, and a moulded wooden cornice runs above these windows, dividing the two storeys. The parapet is coped with wood and has four panels that match the windows below, situated above a wooden eaves-band. The east wall displays some pargetting with a design of polygonal panels and crosses. The east gable features eroded bargeboards carved with foliage. A large main chimney stack has four truncated octagonal shafts and a square base with moulded coping.
