Description
Wiseman's Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house that incorporates extensive re-used materials from the 16th century. It is timber framed and plastered, featuring two storeys and a cellar, topped with a red and black pantile roof. The façade has a three-window range with early 18th-century double hung vertical sliding sashes that include glazing bars. The entrance has a simple door surround with reeded pilasters. At each end of the house are 18th-century red brick chimney stacks, while the south chimney is made from re-used 16th-century brick. The house has an L-shaped plan with a late 16th-century wing at the rear, which is one storey with attics and modern casements. Inside, some 16th-century framing is still visible, along with good 18th-century detailing, including a simple staircase with a moulded handrail and stick balusters.
