Description
Rams Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1510. It is timber-framed, two storeys high, and has five bays, with a cladding of white weatherboards. The roof is ridged and gabled, covered with peg tiles. At the rear, there are two wings extending from the centre, one of which is a stair-tower. A red brick chimney stack with an 18th-century shaft is located near the centre of the ridge. The modern front door is situated beneath a leaded flat hood supported by two Doric pilasters made of softwood. All the windows are sash hung in exposed boxes, with four on the ground floor and five on the first floor. Inside, there is evidence of a first-floor hall, including a surviving crown-post in the attic. The original frame was exposed throughout, as it still is in the rear east angle.
