Description

This property comprises three buildings – Church Gate Lodge, Church View Cottage and Six Bells Cottage – in Great Waltham. The core of the building dates back to the 15th century, though it has undergone significant alterations and additions in the 19th century, with further renovation in the 20th century. The eastern wing was constructed in the mid-19th century using red and black brick. The main façade has three windows, featuring double-hung sash windows with small panes of glass in simple reveals. The ground-floor windows are three-light. The original section of the building is two storeys high and has gabled fronts to the south and west. The north side features a jettied upper storey. The windows on the north side are 20th-century casements. Two doorways are topped with gabled hoods. The roof is slate, with a section tiled. A two-storey, 19th-century block with a slate roof extends to the west. The listed buildings in The Village are considered to form a group of local interest.
