Description

The dovecote to the north of Writtle Park Farmhouse is likely the only remaining circular dovecote in Essex. This building, constructed in the 18th century, is made of red brick with a header bond and may be built on an earlier Tudor foundation. It has two storeys and features a conical tiled roof, which is no longer topped by a louvre but does have an old weather vane and a moulded brick cornice. There are no nests remaining inside. The dovecote stands alone in the middle of a field.
