Description
Writtle Park House is a building originally constructed as a 16th-century courtyard house, which underwent significant alterations in the 18th century. The north front features two Tudor crowstepped gables with pillar finials that support lions holding standards. The east side also includes a crowstepped gable. The south front has a parapet with a raised brick band and consists of two storeys with a seven-window range. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in plain reveals on the first storey and in stuccoed reveals on the ground storey. The doorway is adorned with fluted pilasters, a triglyph frieze, and a cornice. The north front has a nine-window range, also featuring double-hung sashes with glazing bars in flush cased frames. The roof is tiled.
